Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) at FirstChoice OB GYN

At FirstChoice OB GYN Group LLC, we are proud to provide expectant parents with access to advanced prenatal screening options during the early stages of pregnancy. One of the most reliable and safe screening methods available is Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT).

What is NIPT?

Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) is a simple blood test that can be performed in early pregnancy. By analyzing small fragments of the baby’s DNA found in the mother’s blood, NIPT screens for certain chromosomal conditions. Since it is non-invasive, it poses no risk to the mother or baby.

What Does NIPT Screen For?

NIPT is highly effective at screening for:

  • Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome)

  • Trisomy 18 (Edwards syndrome)

  • Trisomy 13 (Patau syndrome)

  • Sex chromosome abnormalities

  • Baby’s gender

Depending on the laboratory used, expanded panels may be available.

When is NIPT Performed?

NIPT can usually be done as early as 9–10 weeks of pregnancy. Results are typically available within 7–10 business days.

How We Provide NIPT at FirstChoice OB GYN

Our office follows pregnancies up to 12 weeks. Within this time, we are able to offer NIPT and review results with you. If any concerns arise or if further care is required beyond the first trimester, we will guide you and provide a smooth transition to the appropriate specialist or long-term OB care provider.

Why Choose NIPT?

  • Accurate – One of the most reliable early screening tools.

  • Safe – Only requires a blood draw, with no risk to your baby.

  • Early reassurance – Provides information while you are still in your first trimester.
