Why Consult a Gynecologist?
The human body is complex and unique. This is certainly true for the female body. To ensure the health and well-being of women, it is essential to seek the knowledge of a gynecologist when needed. Women consult a gynecologist for various reasons due to the specialized expertise that gynecologists offer in the field of female reproductive health. You can consult a gynecologist for pregnancy, contraception, menstrual problems, hormonal changes, and fertility problems, among other things.
Gynaecology: Scheduling an Appointment Made Easy ✓
Need to schedule an appointment with a Gynecologist in NJ? The well-being of women is our priority, and that’s why appointments with the gynecologist are easily arranged. Whether you have a referral from your general practitioner or are looking for a gynecologist in New Jersey, we are happy to help. From pregnancy to prolapse to questions about menstruation. During your visit, you can count on detailed information about the examination that will take place. Our practice offers various specialties within gynecology, and we work closely with the child center to ensure the best possible care for mother and child.
The gynecologist can take over responsibility for the pregnancy or childbirth if a medical indication arises. This includes inducing labor, performing a cesarean section, or administering morphine or an epidural during labor.
Ultimately responsible
In the event of a medical indication, the gynecologist is ultimately responsible for your delivery. The gynecologist works in the hospital in collaboration with midwives, physician assistants, and nurses. It is therefore possible that you have been transferred to the gynecologist and are being assisted by a physician assistant. This person then works closely with the gynecologist on duty.
Medical reason
If you are transferred to the gynecologist, there is always a medical reason, or medical indication, for this. This means that there is an increased risk for you and/or the baby. That is why, with the gynecologist, you almost always receive continuous monitoring of the baby’s heartbeat and an IV for the administration of any medication.
What is an OBGYN?
An “OBGYN“ (obstetrician-gynecologist) is a doctor who takes care of women’s health. This includes everything from pregnancy and childbirth to menstrual disorders, menopause and gynecological cancers.
Think of your OBGYN as your partner in healthcare for all things reproductive. They will be with you at every stage of life from your first period to post-menopause and beyond.
Why see an OBGYN?
Regular visits to your OBGYN are important for your overall health. These visits allow for:
- Screenings: Like Pap smears and mammograms to detect cervical cancer and breast cancer
- Early diagnosis and treatment: Of gynecological conditions like fibroids, endometriosis and PCOS
- Family planning: Including birth control and pregnancy care.
- Menopause management: Hot flashes and mood swings.
In my opinion finding an OBGYN you like and feel comfortable with is key. You want someone who listens to you and provides personalized care.
How often should you see your gynecologist? 📅
How often you see your OBGYN depends on your age, health history and individual needs. But most women should see their gynecologist at least once a year for a check up.
Age Group | Recommended Frequency |
---|---|
Teen (13-18) | Yearly |
Young Adult (19-39) | Yearly |
Midlife (40-64) | Yearly |
Senior (65+) | Yearly or as needed |
You may need to see your OBGYN more often if you are pregnant, have a chronic gynecological condition or have new/symptoms.
